Porsche Summer Challenge

Materializing the idea of electromobility transition

Porsche Summer Challenge was a collaborative initiative involving the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Slovak University of Technology and Porsche Centrum Bratislava. During July and September 2024, the project encouraged students to explore design concepts that integrate the ethos of Porsche with trends in electromobility.

This initiative of Porsche Summer Challenge was part of Porsche’s community social responsibility efforts and involved a design contest during the academic off-season. The winning concept of Lukáš Litavec caught the attention of the jury thanks to the ability of the object to capture the essence of dynamism and motion. Inspired by the fluid, aerodynamic lines of Porsche car bodies, the design has been transformed into a three-dimensional object. Curved, flowing lines overlap to create the illusion of an infinite loop or ring, symbolizing the continuous innovation and speed inherent in Porsche’s DNA.

The sculpture appears to be in perpetual motion; its lines twist and coil around each other, evoking movement and energy. An additional design element is a ring encircling the main body of the sculpture, subtly referencing the upper stroke of the letter „P,“ thus creating a link to the Porsche logo. Parallel lines on this ring are not merely aesthetic; they are designed to visually represent air flowing around the shape. This piece aims to serve as a visual metaphor for Porsche’s design philosophy: functional aesthetics, where each curve and line serves a purpose yet contributes to a cohesive whole.

The realization of the winning design was supervised and co-designed by industrial designer Filip Maukš and sculptor Martin Mjartan, who provided crucial production assistance, helping to transform Litavec’s concept into a tangible sculpture in short production time. The final piece was revealed at the launch event for the Porsche Macan Electric on October 10th in Bratislava and was on display at the Porsche Showroom in Bratislava.

The final object was produced at the Implementation Center for Educational, Research and Artistic Projects of the FAD STU in Bratislava by a dedicated team: Radovan Pekník, Peter Levársky, and participating students Filip Mikóczi and Martin Mikovič.
