Make Sense

Testing the perception of phygital surfaces

‚Make Sense‘ study by Lucia Suchá aims to test the perceptions of ‚phygital‘ samples – material samples whose shape seems organic but are digitally created and physically 3D printed. These form experiments explore the perception of materialized digital design models.

99 framed samples demonstrates how the scale and intesity of surface structure is influencing the physical and perseption properties. Each 3D printed monomaterial sample is unique in its surface setting, with unified heigh of 100 mm. It is possible to turn the samples, disconnect the mathematical gradient, and observe the samples with different light reflection.

The object was for the fierst time introduced at Designblok Prague in 2024 as a part of PHYGITAL× installation.
